#BeWoW – Dream, Enjoy, Inspire

This week’s #BeWow edition is a little assortment of inspiring quotes! Finding such things on Pinterest (along with cats, books and geeky goodness) has become a hobby!

#BeWow (Be Wonderful on Wednesday) was started by Ronovan Writes and the concept is to share positivity across the blogosphere. It is a weekly feature on my blog and hope many others will participate.

#BeWoW – Every Little Thing

Inspiration for this week’s BeWoW post comes from how little things can mean the world and make a situation better. Some big awesome news can be life changers but in the day to day existence, enjoying the little things can make life so much better, even on days that aren’t so good.

So, I’m bringing you a little ‘pot pourri’ of this with quotes I found on Pinterest and the song I Believe by Joana Zimmer.

Give a little bit of love and you get it back,
Give a little bit of pain, you caught in a trap.
For every little thing that you say or do, give a little bit of love and it´ll come back to you.

#BeWow – You Are Worth It

This weeks’s #BeWow post was prompted by this beautiful art by my friend and partner in crime Rose B. Fischer. I have always loved her art and this piece is no exception!

Then the text and the art’s colors reminded me of an old Dark Angel video I made focusing on Max’s and Original Cindy’s friendship. I remember using color effects in it. The video isn’t online but the song I used, I’ll Stand by You by the Pretenders seems like the perfect accompanying tune for this inspiring art.

So if you’re mad, get mad
Don’t hold it all inside
Come on and talk to me now
Hey, what you got to hide?
I get angry too
Well I’m a lot like you
When you’re standing at the crossroads
And don’t know which path to choose
Let me come along
’cause even if you’re wrong
I’ll stand by you

– The Pretenders

You are worth it. Don’t forget this and have a beautiful Wednesday.

#BeWow – Be Kind To Yourself

Having compassion is often easier for others than to one’s self. We always feel that we need to do more, that we should be like this or that. I am all for becoming a better person, but in the past years I have realized that cutting myself some slack was part of the process. I also learned this when dealing with a bad case of burnout when overdoing it with my writing projects. Being kind to yourself helps you feel better and if you do feel better, you are more likely to be more positive and it has an impact on others too. Being responsible also means taking care of yourself, as you would do with others. It isn’t a lesson easy to learn but it is a very worthy one.

How can you be kind to yourself today? Being as such isn’t selfish, it is nurturing. And you are worth it!

#BeWow – Perseverance

OneRepublic’s song Marchin On is one of my favorite tunes about perseverance and how we must keep holding on even when times are rough. I like how the text also talks about “we”, not “I”. With family, friends and allies, we can go a long way, much farther than we may on our own!

Together we are stronger. We must not give up.

#BeWow: Compassion And Kindness Are Never Wasted

Just like most people, I struggle with being positive, compassionate and kind at times. There are some people who don’t bring the best out of me. Hurtful and negative people don’t always make me want to be kind to them. But I’m trying. Working on becoming a more positive person is a never ending task, but it is a worthy one.

This is why I try so hard not to show negativity online for example. It is out of professionalism at first, but beyond this, I don’t want to bring people down. I don’t agree with everyone but  I can do this with respect and understand that we can agree to disagree.

I do my best online and offline to be someone people can talk to. Once again, I’m not perfect, and I know my defects pretty well at this stage. It is important, because it helps me work on them better. I don’t expect all of them to vanish, even over time, but if I can remember to be compassionate and kind most of the time, it is a good thing.

#BeWow: Likes and Shares Matter (And Don’t Forget Gratitude!)

#BeWoW (Be Wonderful on Wednesday) started thanks to Ronovan Writes. It is about sharing positive posts on Wednesday, and bring some good in a world that may have too much negativity for our taste. I wasn’t so sure about what to blog but the topic came to me at once yesterday.

We often talk about the importance of comments on blogs (or anything we might share online) because it is more personal and can foster discussion. Now, I am always happy to see (respectful) comments and converse with other people, either on things shared online.

Yet, we don’t always 1) have time to leave in depth comments 2) know what to exactly say (even when a post may get us to think either right away or later in the day/week).

This is why Likes and Shares matter.

I try to leave comments when I can, but one thing I always make sure to do when I go through my Feed, especially on WordPress (as I may be a bit scarce on Twitter for example) is to like the posts that catch my attention and share them, at least on Twitter (but also sometimes on LinkedIn and Google+).

I want to make sure that people know I appreciate what they shared one way or the other.

The same way, I do my best to reply to all comments and shares (that I am aware of!) Of course, this may simply be “thank you for sharing” or “thank you for your comment”/”I’m glad you like it”; but a little gratitude here and there can go a long way.

None of us is perfect but every kind gesture or word can help make the world a better place.

Who can you be kind and supportive to today?

About.Me and Writing/Blogging Updates

I finally caved in and have joined about.me. You can find my page here. I have added the widget to the side bar of the blog, as well as the Contact page. I am still learning how it works, but it already covers the basics of my links (and I hope that the WordPress app will eventually behaves!)

On the writing side, I have just made the final edits for a chapter to be included in a print volume next year. The next item on my list is to finish the Tenel Ka chapter for my upcoming eBook A Galaxy of Possibilities: Representation and Storytelling in Star Wars.

Once this eBook is completed and sent off to my editor, I will start plotting a few guest posts projects (Gene’O, Ronovan and Sarahbeth, you will probably hear from me within the next month!)
