Monday Music – Dido

I was first introduced to Dido thanks to the Roswell opening credits and her Here With Me tune. Although I like her more recent work, her first two albums still own my heart. My favorite songs tend to be her darker ones, especially Life for Rent, but I enjoy her happier ones as well.

This is why I chose Sand in My Shoes for today’s Monday Music. I especially searched for the version from her live at the Brixton Academy. This concert makes for one of my favorite music DVDs I own.

HaveĀ  great week!

Monday Music – Cher

I have no idea how I managed to make up my mind for a single Cher song. I love her work so much. I love the woman behind the music, and also the actress. As hard as it is, I think that I could say that Cher is my favorite singer. She still is one of my go-to musical artists when I don’t know what to listen to or when I need to feel lifted up.

Today’s pick is Strong Enough, which makes me feel fifteen again. I remember when the Believe album came out and when we had a party with friends, the one who played DJ always played a Cher tune for me. I still have a ton of Cher songs I plan to vid, no matter how many I already used for various fandom.

Have a great week!

Monday Music – Bee Gees

The Bee Gees always remind me of my childhood. They were one of the bands my parents listened a lot to. I chose Massachusetts without hesitation, regardless of how many of their songs I love. It reminds me of driving to our country house when I was little. I even associate it with a Tom and Jerry episode where Jerry eventually comes home after scampering off on their own for a while. It also makes me think of the end of Who’s The Boss? when Tony comes back to Angela and in the house they shared for years. This song is about coming home, whether home is a place or people.

The Bee Gees are also very “Evil Genius Council” to me. There is a lot of emotions in many of their songs I enjoy (I Started a Joke would be close to my favorite).

Have a great week!

Monday Music – Adele

I am not partaking in A to Z challenge with this blog (contributing to the challenge at Sourcerer end of the month!) but I still have a A to Z flavor in the upcoming months. I have an alphabetical list of artists and bands for Monday Music.

This is why I am starting with Adele. Set fire to the Rain was the song that made me fall in love with her music but choosing Rolling in the Deep for today, because of how catchy it is. I like how even when she has a lot of emotional songs, she has a fair number which sound empowering and have this ‘I’ll get through this’ vibe.

Have a great week!
