Things have been pretty busy on the writing front and I am far from being done. I am still working on marketing for the New Revised Edition of A Galaxy of Possibilities: Representation and Storytelling in Star Wars (stay tuned for print-related announcement later this week). Later in the year, I have Clairvoyance Chronicles – Volume One to be released, so the last part of 2015 will be filled with promotion.

At this stage, I have four titles written for 2016 or 2017 releases:

  • John Winchester’s Orchestrated Fall from Grace in Supernatural (ready to be formatted)
  • Women of Flesh and Steel (editing stage)
  • The Dream Crusher (to be edited)
  • The City of Sharianth (to be edited, English translation of my novella for kids released earlier this year)

My plan for this Fall was to work on the first volume of my Vampiric Versailles series and a one-shot Fantasy novella (think Dragon Age for the type of setting) whose title is still undecided. The latter is already at 11K words. I have so many ideas for both of them, but my creative juices are poofing on me. This annoys me because I really want to keep going.

This is why I am toying with the idea of switching back to translating, since I have a dark fantasy/science fiction novel sitting on my computer that is finished, but in French. I admit disliking translation work but at least this wouldn’t ask me to come up with storylines and still get something done. I am not planning to release this novel in French, and it would be foolish to leave this finished title going to waste.

    I think it’s amazing that you are in a position to translate your work yourself! I am curious, though, why you wrote the novel in French if you are not planning to release it in that language. Did your plans change?

      I couldn’t write a short story or even a novella in French at this point in my life. The scifi novella for kids (that I published in French earlier this year) and that I already translated (with story differences) was written 15 years ago. The novel I need to translate now I wrote it 12-15 years ago. Back then I didn’t plan to write in English as I do now. 🙂

    I think taking some time off of writing new things is sometimes a good idea, it lets you gather your creative energies first. The vampire project will still be there waiting for you while you translate the other project. Plus it’s always fun to revisit older projects, you get to see how much you have grown as a writer.

      I hate translation with a passion. To me, it’s like pulling teeth. But it’s my only option to get something productive done, so I’ll probably go at snail pace but at least make something out of that novel, so it doesn’t just gather dust on my hard drive. 🙂
